Spring Works Collection Chapter 1

I remember sitting in a hide tanning workshop I was teaching a few years back and I was sharing with the women in the class how what I do, designing high end fashion and being a hide tanner didn’t make sense. I was surprised at their responses. Several of the women were shocked and almost put off by the thought, they weren’t taking it personally but what they said was,

Our silk slip in midnight

"You design the dresses for us"

I’ve been reflecting on how I got to this point for our spring line. Silk slips for cowgirls.

It makes almost no sense at all and then at the same time that’s the exact reason. Why not?

Beauty is everything to me, beauty is silk, beauty is linen, it’s also good horses that you put all your heart into.

Beauty is integrity and that is why I design what I design.

And in this modern day society beauty almost doesn’t make sense anymore, it’s getting pushed out to make way for the fast and furious. Gosh it just reminds me of when I see a new track home going in. If we need housing great, but why not make them beautiful?

My garments are for women to feel beautiful in, to feel powerful in, in the softest way possible.

Silk slips and cowboy things, if we don’t make room for them they’ll fade away.

I guess what I am saying is cowboys and when I say this I always mean cowgirls too, are just like silk slips, we need them, because we need things made of integrity and beauty.
